Your class will develop their chronological knowledge of British history, helping them recognise changes in Britain from the time of the Celts, to the time after the Roman invasion. They will learn about what we think life was like in Roman Britain with this hands-on immersive activity which will educate your class in a fun and engaging way.
The class will dress in Roman armour and learn how to march as a unit, practice javelin throwing and the “testudo formation” shield drill to protect themselves and their fellow centurions. There will be the opportunity to race fellow classmates to build a working catapult, build a Roman archway and investigate artefacts of the period.
Please note for double class sizes, the catapult session will be self-led by the visiting school’s staff. All resources and full instructions will be provided. Alternatively, there is the option to pay for a second tutor for the day.
